Join Rachel Martinez in Restoring Balance and Independence to Cheektowaga
Meet Rachel
Rachel Martinez is a lifelong Democrat, social worker, wife, mother, and proud resident of Cheektowaga who is running for Town Council because she believes local government should be compassionate, transparent, and focused on serving the people.
Rachel grew up in Lancaster, New York, where her family taught and modeled for her a strong appreciation for the values of community, hard work, and service to others. Those early experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to helping people and making a positive difference in the lives of those around her.
She attended Nazareth College in Rochester, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Rachel then pursued graduate studies through the collaborative Master of Social Work program offered by Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport, earning her Master of Social Work (MSW). She later became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a milestone that reflects her dedication to professional growth and to serving individuals and families with integrity and expertise.
Throughout her career as a social worker, Rachel has worked alongside individuals and families facing life’s most difficult challenges. She has dedicated her career to listening, advocating, solving problems, and helping people navigate complex systems while connecting them with the resources they need to thrive. Her professional experience has strengthened her ability to bring people together, build consensus across differing perspectives, and find practical solutions to difficult issues.
Beyond her professional work, Rachel has become an active member of the Cheektowaga community. She regularly attends Town Board meetings, serves as a member of the Cheektowaga Democratic Committee, participates in volunteer and advocacy efforts, and enjoys supporting local events. These experiences have reinforced her belief that government works best when it is transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves.
Rachel and her husband have proudly called Cheektowaga home for the past 10 years, where they are raising their six-year-old son. As a parent and longtime resident, she is personally invested in ensuring Cheektowaga remains a community where families feel safe, businesses can grow, and future generations have every opportunity to succeed.
As a lifelong Democrat, Rachel’s priorities include supporting working families, protecting vulnerable residents, improving roads and infrastructure, encouraging responsible economic development, supporting local businesses, and ensuring every resident has a voice in local government. She believes that the best solutions come from listening to residents, collaborating with community partners, and making decisions that put people first.
Rachel believes leadership is about earning the public’s trust every day. She is committed to representing all residents of Cheektowaga with respect, empathy, and dedication. If elected to the Town Council, Rachel will bring the same compassion, professionalism, and commitment to public service that have defined her career, working every day to build a stronger, more inclusive, and more vibrant Cheektowaga.
